We expire all credit book balances on Dec 15th of each year prior to closing for the season. In extreme instances, we reserve the right to re-issue a balance in the new year.
Our credit book accounts timeframe would run from June 1st until May 31st annually. This allowed our members to use their credits during the year. We were able to gain valuable incremental income.
Periodically we will send out emails specific to those who have credit reminding them that they actually have credit in the golf shop, and if they would like to spend it we have a great selection in stock.
We presently do not have any effective strategies in place for utilizing credit book, other than running hit the green double your money opportunities at Member-Guests. Per state law our credit books expire after 7 years, so this becomes challenging when looking to encourage spending of credit book.
We emphasize very hard that we want our members to use their credit by the end of the year but it doesn’t expire. We tell them they can carry it into the next year if they are serious about getting fit for example. About 95% of the time they follow through. We offer holiday sales at the end of the year to entice the membership to use their credit.
I offer a buyer’s club in March to help with cash flow. $400 gets you $450 in credit, then 10% off all orders. I also run weekend golf shop games. Some are score driven, others are luck (major pools). All credits expire at year end
