We are optimistic and with proper social distancing and a 4:1 ratio we believe we can proceed with a program. We will stagger start times to avoid large groups showing up or hanging out.
We are looking into ways to be flexible and stay just below cdc guidelines as soon as we are free to do so. Possible that we won’t have any at all this summer, bad news for a club with 175+ juniors coming through our programs each week. I would be very curious to hear others’ plans and predictions.
We planned an extensive program (something everyday starting March 10) and had a large number signed up to participate. All got thrown out the door w/Covid19. Through April and May we have been running what we call the “wave” system. We have 5 golf professionals each professionals takes 3 or 4 juniors for an hour for practice and clinic or 2 hours to play 9 holes – depending on day. The wave comes into play the first group may start at 2:00, then second group at 3:00 etc. so not to create too much crowding in practice areas or on the first tee. It has worked great and each session has been full. The governor of Kentucky given the green light June 15th for junior “camp and sports”we hope to return to “partial normal” then.
We are currently closed and not offering any junior programming at the moment, other than one on one online coaching. Once we open, phase 1 will probably be more one on one possibly on the range and/or golf course. Phase 2, may allow us to coach kids in small pods of no more than 4. Phase 3, which may happen in August, could possibly allow us to increase group sizes.

Waiting until the last week of May to start programs, with social distancing recommendations. May have to do smaller groups to help with this.

I’m optimistic but IL has cancelled ALL youth sports for the summer. This will be devastating for all involved.
