    Edgewood Country Club is an 18-hole private member-owned club located in Pittsburgh, PA. The club was established in 1898 and is one of the three oldest clubs in western Pennsylvania. It is a founding member of the Western Pennsylvania Golf Association. The 18-hole course is a Donald Ross design located just east of Pittsburgh off I-376. The club has 350+ golfing members (500+ total members) and supports over 22,000 rounds per year. A wait list was started for membership in 2021. In addition to the 6500 yards championship golf course there is a practice range and short game area. Golf activities include men, ladies and junior programs, and a caddie program. Monday golf outings provide a solid revenue stream for the club. Edgewood is considered one of Pittsburgh’s premier family country clubs and offers a first-class clubhouse with fine and casual dining, grille, swimming, tennis and platform tennis facilities.

    This First Assistant Golf Professional position is designed to be a 10 month position from March 1st – December 31st. The candidate should be a Class A PGA Professional with 3 years of private or resort experience. With the timing of this opening, the start date is flexible. I am willing to have a person start either December 1, 2021 or March 1, 2022 depending on his/her current commitments.

    This position will assist the Head Professional with all activities involved in running a successful golf operation. Duties will include tournament operations, individual and group instruction, junior golf, merchandising, club repair, outing preparation, customer relations, playing with the membership, and helping with daily shop operations.

    The candidate should be personable, hard working, and a team player with solid computer skills and a strong attention to detail. Any knowledge of Event Man Tournament Software, Foretees, and Club Systems Golf Management Software is a plus. Two of the people that have held this title recently have gone on to Director of Instruction and Head Professional positions. That must be the goal for the next candidate as well.

    Compensation for the position will include a salary of $825 per week plus income earned from teaching, junior golf, tips, outings, club repair, club fittings, and year-end holiday bonus. The expected total compensation will be between $49,000-$55,000.

    Additional Benefits include individual health insurance after 90 days, two weeks paid vacation after one year, PGA dues paid by the club, clothing allowance, continued education allowance, lunch while on duty, and the full use of the golf course and practice facility. After 1 year the candidate can also participate in the club’s 401k program.
