    Grandfather Golf & Country Club is a private, 36-hole facility in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina. Grandfather has 450 members with approximately 15,000 rounds during the summer season and is ranked number two in the state by the North Carolina Golf Panel.

    Position: Assistant Golf Professional-Tournament Director

    Status: Seasonal Hourly-55 hours

    Reports To: Head Golf Professional

    Supervises: PGA Golf Management Interns

    Job Summary: Spearhead the management of the Club’s Tournament Schedule. Train, lead and supervise PGA Golf Management Interns while promoting an exceptional golf experience for all members and guests.

    Job Responsibilities:

    The Tournament Director has these Professional Responsibilities:

    • Actively maintain or pursue membership in the PGA of America

    The Tournament Director has these Operational Responsibilities:

    • Greet all members and guests within 15 ft. range in a warm and welcoming manner
    • Smile and maintain a positive presence at the club and around town
    • Oversee the entire Tournament Calendar
    • Update staff at all Staff Meetings on upcoming Tournaments
    • Answer all telephone calls on the 1st ring if possible, when assigned to Golf Shop
    • Open and Close Golf Shop as assigned
    • Consult in the hiring and firing of Golf Staff
    • Help maintain cleanliness of Facilities
    • Attend weekly staff meetings
    • Create culture and buy-in from entire staff
    • Serve as role model for entire staff, especially future PGA Professionals
    • Work on golf game and play golf with 20 different members by end of year
    • Plays golf with Club members and their guests while displaying passion and enthusiasm for the club as desired
    • Serves as permanent Tournament Assist on events you are not leading
    • Manages inventory of all Tournament Supplies
    • Assists all staff with all Golf Genius related issues
    • Lead a seminar on Golf Genius and how we use it for sign ups and registration
    • Manages the tournament binder and Golf Genius, insuring they both match sign ups on a weekly basis
    • Coordinates with other Club departments whenever necessary
    • Attends weekly departmental staff meetings
    • Completes other appropriate tasks as assigned by the Director of Golf and/or the Head Golf Professional

    • Train, develop and encourage future PGA Professionals

    The Tournament Director has these Club Related Responsibilities:

    • Represents themselves to the Membership and within the community in a professional manner consistent with the brand that Grandfather represents
    • Consistently complies with the rules and regulations stated in the Club’s Employee Handbook
