Have you tried to develop a member only logo (aside from your primary club logo) at your club? If so, how did you introduce it and did you see an increase in merchandise sales?
We did a logo redesign in conjunction with a major clubhouse remodel. The timing of the new logo was presented to the membership when we had our grand reopening. Just like most anything at a private club, it was not 100% unanimously accepted, but now after two years, I only hear the positive comments. Sales skyrocketed for the first year and although they tapered off some during year two, it still remains much higher than with our old/tired crest/shield.
Yes, two times with two different logos. Did not take off both times and netted zero after each attempt. My recommendation would be custom orders only with appropriate logo charge per piece.
No We attempted to create a members or symbol only logo but it did not catch on as well for our members. In fact this was very controversial for our membership and board several years ago so we have gone back to our more traditional crest/shield logo.
Huge success for us. We created a logo with slightly larger pine trees, our logo on the sleeve rather than our normal Script. We don’t see all of our members on a regular basis as we serve more as the members third or fourth club. The ability to sell to our member exclusive product that the guest can’t purchase is an automatic home-run for our club. Each season we introduce a few shirts, sweater or vest combination. Selling through this online member only porter allows us to sell product without bringing it into stock. It’s a no lose and everyone wants what the other person can’t purchase. Membership has its privileges.
Launched a member only logo in 2011 to our membership. We introduced it at a member-member event as part of the tournament gift, Smathers & Branson member only belt. We also ordered shirts, golf bags, glassware and other items on display at the event for purchase. Majority of the items sold out during the event. We keep a small display of member-only logo items in the Golf Shop year round. Recently, we have offered the member only logo on golf balls for customization and special order.
Have discussed creating a new members logo in the past, but ultimately felt like it devalued the club’s logo and brand. Felt the only viable option would be to use the club’s logo without text for members only.
We have not and feel it would be short lived, if successful at all.

I have not, but am currently working on an alternate logo with a local graphic designer.
Working on one now and would love to hear the feedback GBN receives.
I have not tried to do it at my facility but I am interested.
